About
We travel around France searching for beautiful French antique furniture, sometimes fine and sometimes a little shabby.  We discover gorgeous brown wood antiques as well as painted furniture. We come across one-off unusual statement pieces from industrial to retro, from Art Deco to vintage.  Let us loose and we’ll find something special for you!
My Story
My name is Louise...... I decided to create French Vintage Vie through a love of France and a passion for home interiors. I think early family holidays in French camp-sites sowed the seed that France was always going to be a special place for me. Learning to speak French at school and university, led to a summer as an au pair and then a year teaching English in a lycee and college in Normandy. My first car had to be French - a Citroen 2CV with a roll-top roof! On completing a Masters in Tourism Management, I decided to combine my knowledge of travel and tourism with my French language skills and returned to France once again to work in the French head office of a ski tour operator in the French Alps.

When you buy a piece of furniture of any kind it's got to be more than just functional. We had been looking on and off for about 4 months and never came across anything that inspired us, until we visited Belfast.
On the morning we were leaving we discovered French Vintage Vie and therein a beautiful oval antique table and newly upholstered antique chairs that we both fell in love with straight away. It was just what we wanted in all respects, a unique piece that is also beautiful to the eye. It transpired that Louise had found the table in Paris and had the top professionally painted and varnished. The chairs had been sourced from Montpellier and compliment the table perfectly. If you are looking for something special, a visit to French Vintage Vie is a must."

For Francophiles and lovers of French furniture, Louise's business French Vintage Vie is a must check-out. On previous sourcing trips Louise has found me two beautiful chests of drawers, truly original and of great quality.
Louise got what I was looking for perfectly after our first discussion and waiting for her emails and photos from France was very exciting. One of the chests was a slightly garish red when Louise saw it in France, but she knew it suited what I wanted in terms of size and style and her restoration and repaint on return to Belfast was excellent; the colour is now a very classy French grey/green and I love how they both look in our bedroom. My wish-list for future sourcing trips continues to grow!

French Vintage Vie is one of my favourite shops in Belfast. I love the fact that all the items have been personally selected in French markets and that everything has a story behind it.  I also love giving once loved pieces a new home here in Northern Ireland.

After decorating our bedroom, a couple of final statements were still to be sourced.
One of those statements we had in mind was a occasional chair, after a lengthy search period nothing inspiring presented itself and we slowly lost desire. A work colleague passed on details of Louise from French Vintage Vie, shortly after we met. Louise was enthusiastic about the information we provided on the type of chair that would appeal to us and assured us it was something she could source on her next trip to France. Our next contact from Louise was an email from France, I couldn't believe it - completely exceeded our expectations - without hesitation we said that is the one :) A couple of weeks passed and we were able to pick up our statement finishing touch. We decided to call in with Louise - again couldn't be more helpful. French Vintage Vie has a special atmosphere - Louise is an excellent curator of Vintage French Furniture. We are now proud owners of a 1900's Walnut Occasional Chair - a little piece of France!!!

As a firm lover of antiques and all things vintage, especially French country vintage style, I was truly delighted when I came across ‘French Vintage Vie’.

This really is a treasure of a shop, within a beautiful period setting in the heart of Belfast.  Although small and bijoux, the range and quality of the items on sale are excellent and I couldn’t resist purchasing two beautiful French upholstered chairs and a wonderfully delicate rosewood table, all of which were very reasonably priced.

In addition, Louise offered to try and source other items of particular interest to me.  I was very impressed by her warm, friendly and down-to earth personality and her extensive knowledge-base of French period style.   In my opinion she has a wonderful eye for style, quality and originality - all this, coupled with her enthusiasm and keen interest in sourcing items directly from France, make for a really new and exciting shopping experience!

Thanks once again Louise!  I’ll definitely be back!
